Research on the Daily Use of Media and
the Intergenerational Communication Network of People Over 65

In our society, we are increasingly in contact with media, using both traditional channels such as radio and television, and digital platforms, such as smartphones and social networks. While numerous studies focus on the interaction between young people and media, the usage patterns of older generations remain underexplored. Therefore, the Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG) at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) has launched a research project to understand how people aged 65 and over living in Italian-speaking part of Switzerland use media on a daily basis, both individually and in the company of other generations (e.g., friends, children, spouse). The research consists of two phases: the first is a questionnaire.

The questionnaire can be completed either online or in paper format. All collected data will be treated confidentially, and the estimated completion time is approximately 15–20 minutes.
